Sgt. Ian Sanchez U.S. Army

Ian Sanchez was a family man — both to his wife and two children and to his men. He joined the Army to build a better life, planning to become a U.S. Marshal or an NYPD officer when he was discharged. In Afghanistan, he was considered a rock, a born leader respected by his men. Sanchez, who was born in Port Richmond and later moved to Castleton Corners, was killed June 16, 2006, in Afghanistan. He was 26.
